The South West Airfield Heritage Trust hold regular lectures around the area. We also hold several fund raising events at the heritage airfields in the region. This section describes these events.
Wings & Wheels, Upottery Airfield, Aug 2010
Our big event this year was the anniversary of VE & VJ Day.
Despite the weather we held a wings and wheels event on 21st and 22nd of August at Upottery airfield. The Dakota N44 made a flyby, and the event was well supported by reenactors of the 101st Airborne ‘Screaming Eagles’.
The event raised £2400 for the Royal British Legion.
The presentation took place on the evening of Nov 15th 2010 at the Royal British Legion Club, Honiton.
Mike Venn on behalf of SWAHT presented a cheque for £2400 to the Chairman of the Devonshire Branch RBL, Mr.R,Howard Williams. This was a share of the money raised at our Upottery event.
The trust wishes to thank all those involved, particularly the Smeatharpe ladies, who kindly donated all the profit from their food and drink stall.

Have read through different sites that members of the cast from Band of Brothers are completing a parachute jump on the Sunday at Dunkswell, then being transported to the show via military vehicles. Is that something you or the organisers need help with?

Yes we have booked the airfield at Smeatharpe for the weekend August 21-22 the event will be along the same lines, this time we hope the weather will be a little kinder so as the D-Day C/47 (Dakota) that operated out of the old airfield during 1944 can come in and land spending some time with us,
